Product Manager (Data & AI Products)

Datum Labs builds modern data platforms, analytics systems, and AI-powered products that help organizations make better decisions. We work at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and applied AI, turning complex datasets into clear, trusted insights.

We are building our own product alongside client-facing solutions and are looking for a Product Manager who can take ownership from problem discovery to measurable impact.

Role Overview:‍

As a Product Manager at Datum Labs, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of a data- and AI-driven product. You will work closely with data engineers, analytics engineers, AI engineers, designers, and business stakeholders to define problems worth solving and ship solutions that are actually used.

This is a hands-on role focused on outcomes, not just features.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Discovery & Strategy

• Work with internal teams and users to deeply understand problems and decision-making needs
• Convert ambiguous requirements into clear problem statements and product opportunities
• Define product vision, goals, and success metrics
• Prioritize roadmap items based on impact, effort, and learning value

Product Execution

• Own and maintain the product roadmap and backlog
• Write clear product requirements (context, problem, success criteria)
• Break initiatives into MVPs, experiments, and iterative releases
• Collaborate daily with engineering and design teams to ensure smooth delivery

Data, Analytics & AI Product Ownership

• Define and align on key business metrics and data definitions
• Work with analytics engineers to ensure clean, trustworthy data models
• Product-manage dashboards, semantic layers, and self-serve analytics tools
• Collaborate on AI-powered features such as natural language querying, copilots, or agents
• Ensure AI outputs are reliable, explainable, and safe for decision-making

Stakeholder Communication

• Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders
• Manage expectations and communicate trade-offs clearly
• Gather feedback, synthesize insights, and translate them into actionable product improvements

Adoption & Impact

• Ensure features are launched with clear value propositions
• Track adoption, usage, and business impact
• Continuously iterate based on real-world usage and feedback

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years experience in a Product Manager or equivalent role
• Strong understanding of software and data products
• Experience working with engineering teams (backend, data, or platform)
• Ability to work with ambiguity and define structure where none exists
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to data platforms (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake, PostgreSQL) — not hands-on engineering
• Conceptual understanding of analytics workflows, metrics, and data models (not required to write SQL/dbt)
• Familiarity with BI tools from a user or stakeholder perspective (Looker, Metabase, Power BI, etc.)
• Interest or exposure to AI/ML-powered products (ability to reason about use cases, risks, and value)
• Background in B2B SaaS, consulting, or platform products is a plus

What This Role Is Not

• A project manager focused only on timelines and tickets
• A passive roadmap owner taking instructions from stakeholders
• A purely UX or UI-focused product owner
• This role owns product outcomes and impact.
